Description

The American military rifle that is most associated with World War II is undoubtedly the M1. Currently known as "Garand" by its inventor John Cancius Garand, the "U.S. Rifle, Caliber 30, M1 ”was a product of the experimentation carried out by the Springfield Armory, owned by the US government, in the 1920s.

It is a semi-automatic rifle with an approach system by means of a rotating closure, actuated by means of gas collection. The gas outlet is located at the end of the barrel and acts on a rod that joins the closure and promotes the start of the recharge cycle. The M1 is powered by an eight-projectile comb that is inserted from the top of the weapon. After the last shot, the comb is ejected and the closure is in the open position to accept a new one and continue the firing cycle.
